NOTICE OF RACE
1 RULES
1.1 The event will be governed by the rules as defined in the Windsurf ing Slalom Racing Rules (WSRR),
unless specified otherwise in this NOR.
1.2 No national prescriptions will apply.
1.3 If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence.
1.4 The class rules of the participating classes will apply as amended by the sailing instructions.
1.5 If there is a conflict between this Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions, the Sailing instructions
will take precedence.
1.6 Competitors and support persons shall comply with any reasonable actions by event officials to
implement COVID-19 guidance, protocols, or legislation, even if they later prove to have been
unnecessary.
2 DIVISIONS
2.1 Age Divisions for prizes: Youth shall be under the age of 18 (born in or after 2004); Senior shall be
age 55 or over (born 1966 or earlier).
2.2 Gender Divisions for prizes: Men Overall, and Women Overall.
2.3 This championship is for sailors in the FIN division only – no FOILS
3 RACE FORMAT
3.1 The Championships shall be a single discipline, slalom racing, “open entry” event.
3.2 Men and women may race together.
3.3 One completed slalom elimination is required to validate a championship.
4 SCHEDULE
4.1 First possible start shall be no earlier than Monday, Nov 01, 2021.
4.2 The intent is to organize the championships over two days during the OBX-WIND event week. More
schedule details shall be available at the event’s skippers’ meeting on Sunday, Oct 31, 2021 starting
at 10AM ET.
5 EQUIPMENT & EQUIPMENT INSPECTION
5.1 Competitors shall display clearly readable sail numbers on each sail and on each side of the sail,
preferably in large black letters and numbers.
5.2 Racing without numbers or without readable numbers on the sail(s) will result in not being scored as
finished.
5.3 Changes in sail numbers should be announced to the race officials before racing for the day begins;
if not, this will result in not being scored as finished.
5.4 No limits or restrictions on the equipment used, except that use of a FOIL is not permitted.
6 COURSES AND HEAT ASSIGNMENTS
6.1 Courses and heat assignments shall be as prescribed in the sailing instructions or published on the
official notice board (ONB) by 9PM the day before racing.
6.2 It is the competitors’ responsibility to check the ONB for daily updates.
6.3 Competitors not racing shall not sail in the competition area (including the pre-start area) while
heats are being sailed. Sailing in the competition area (including the pre-start area) when not
competing may result in disqualification of his/her next race.
7 START PROCEDURE AND RECALLS
Start procedure and recalls shall be reviewed at the skippers’ meeting.
8 SCORING
8.1 Scoring and ties will be according to the World Sailing RRS Appendix A.
8.2 One race is required to be completed to constitute a regatta.
8.3 Discards shall be as follows: no discard before 3 eliminations have been completed; 1 discard if 4-6
eliminations have been completed; 2 discards if 7-10 eliminations have been completed; and 3
discards if 11 or more eliminations have been completed.
9 PROTESTS
9.1 There will be no possibility to file protests.
9.2 Any conflicts between competitors arisen during the competition should be submitted to the
Principle Race Officer within one (1) hour of getting back to shore and will be settled by his/her
decision.
9.3 Competitors accept to be bound by that decision with no appeal.
10 PRIZES & TITLES
10.1 Trophies may be awarded to the first three competitors in each valid division.
10.2 National titles may be awarded to the top finisher in each valid division with at least 3 finishers.
11 OFFICIAL CEREMONIES
Competitors are requested to attend the event’s social functions and the prize giving ceremony.
12 SAFETY
If personal buoyancy is prescribed, every competitor and support boat crewmember shall wear a
personal flotation device that shall conform to USCG standards.
13 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the event entirely at their own risk, see WSRR 4 - Decision to Race. The
organizing authority or any of their officials or representatives or the sponsors or their officials or
representatives will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in
conjunction with or prior to, during or after the event.
14 INSURANCE
Each participating competitor shall be insured with valid third party liability insurance.
15 RIGHT TO USE NAME AND LIKENESS
In registering for the event, competitors automatically grant to the Organi zing Authority the right in
perpetuity to make, use, modify and show from time to time at their discretion, any motion pictures,
still pictures and live, taped or filmed television and other reproduction of them, taken during the period
of the event, without compensation.
16 ADVERTISING
Sailors may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority. World
Sailing Regulation 20 ‘Advertising Code’ shall apply. Event branding shall be worn at all times when
afloat, and as requested by the organizers during media interviews and during the prize giving.

SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
1. RULES
The event shall be governed by the rules as defined in the Windsurfing Slalom Racing Rules (WSRR),
unless specified otherwise in these Sailing Instructions.
All official announcements shall be posted in writing on the Official Notice Board (ONB). The intended
schedule for the following day shall be posted on the ONB by 2000 hrs the preceding day.
2. COURSES
2.1 The racing area(s) and the courses will be as illustrated on the ONB. The course diagram, start and
finish (not to scale) will be posted on the ONB before the start.
2.2 Competitors not racing shall not sail in the competition area (including the pre-start area) while
heats are being sailed.
2.3 Sailing in the competition area (including the pre-start area) when not competing (violation of rule
2.2) may result in disqualification of his/her next race.
3. STARTING SEQUENCE
Shortly before start of sequence AP down
3 minutes before start heat flag up (One sound)
2 minutes before start red flag up (One sound)
1 ó minutes before start red flag down
1 minutes before start yellow flag up (One sound)
30 seconds before start yellow flag down
START green flag up (One sound)
Shortly after start green flag down / heat flag down / AP up
4. HEATS SCHEDULE

4.3 Heat assignments shall be posted on the ONB before racing.
5. RECALLS
5.1 General recalls: A general recall shall be announced with repeated sounds within 3 seconds of the
start. The sailors shall sail back to the starting area and a new start sequence shall be initiated for the
same heat.
5.2 Individual recalls: if there are individual sailors over early, an individual recall flag shall be raised
within 3 seconds of the start, accompanied by one sound, but the heat will continue to race. It will be
the responsibility of the sailors to check back with the RC to see who was OCS and disqualified from the
heat.
6. OBLIGATIONS
